My role with Cards in Hand of Fate was primarily handling all of them to some varying degree. All the card textures, the card art editing, all the rare card material designating was done by myself. I used Substance Painter to hand paint the two basic card variations we used in Hand of Fate 2, so that card folds would be the same on the front as they are on the back for realism. The game is programmed to flip the x and y tangents of these texture maps to create perceived variation. Two of the same do sometimes appear next to each other, but overall the subtle variation I think creates a nicer atmosphere when parsing through hundreds of cards over many hours!
